The Meaning of TEAM - May 2015
Team is working Together and having fun.
Team is being Encouraging with one another.
Team is to Aspire to a unifying goal.
Team is being a Mentor to one another and with others too.
Team is being with friends, new and old, learning old and new skills while having fun.
Team is working Together and having fun.
Team is being Encouraging with one another.
Team is to Aspire to a unifying goal.
Team is being a Mentor to one another and with others too.
Team is being with friends, new and old, learning old and new skills while having fun.
While training for the 2014 Special Olympics Summer Games up in Pender Harbour, Christel wrote this poem.
YOUGOTTAWANNA
To doing your best and working hard, yougottawanna.
To overcoming obstacles and learning new things, yougottawanna.
To reaching your goal and achieving your personal best, yougottawanna.
To inspire others and use sportsmanship, yougottawanna.
To surpass your personal boundaries and persevere, yougottawanna.
(In dedication to the Pendar Harbor pool, their motto was the inspiration for this poem.)

Christel recently attended the Athlete Speaker Level 1 Course in February 2013. When I asked her to submit a paragraph or two about the course, this is what she wrote:
"I had a wonderful time at the Athlete Speaker Bureau level 1 course. What I learned was that with any presentation, you can look at it as a menu from a restaurant where your introduction is like the appetizer, the body of your presentation is like the main course and your conclusion in the desert. It was a great experience and I got to meet people from other places who came to that same course."

The Meaning of Special Olympics
The meaning of Special Olympics is about having fun and trying new things.
The meaning of meeting new friends and to cheer for one another.
The meaning to use our current skills and to learn new ones.
The meaning to try our best to win and that if we cannot, that we did the best in the attempt.
(Let me win, and if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt.)
The meaning of being healthy and training hard.
The meaning of good sportsmanship and competitive demeanor.
The meaning to apply to everyday life and experiences.
Special Olympics is the meaning of everything.
Swimming in the Moment
Nerves set aside,
confidence flows through,
will get you ready and go far.
Body and mind at ready,
sound of the buzzer echoes,
swiftly into the water like a bullet leaving a gun barrel.
Arms and legs working in synch,
alternating breathing and focus are key,
flip turn around to see the new destination.
The finish line is all that can be seen
but friends cheering is all to be heard.
Inspiration
People can inspire you.
Something at work can inspire you.
Nature settings can inspire you.
TV shows and movies can inspire you.
Songs can inspire you.
Animals can inspire you.
Sports can inspire you.
Just about anything in life can be an inspiration, you just have to let it follow through and go with it.
